God's Grace..Babies..Weddings...

Well I knew from the start I wouldn't be very good at this blogging thing.

We have officially entered into wedding season. So that is taking up a big chunk of our weekends. When we aren't busy with weddings, we have bridal showers, baby showers, bachelor parties, and family events.

On June 9th Clinton, Griffin and I hopped in the back of Clinton's moms jeep and heading to Illinois for Clinton's cousins BEAUTIFUL outside wedding . Clinton really loved it, it was out in the country, with a HUGE pond, and all kinds of other things that Clinton's dream home WILL have some day :) They got married on a dock that was made of plexi glass so it looked like they were standing on the water, it was so neat. Their center pieces were old "stuff" they found who knows where, our drinking glasses were mason jars! It was just SO fun!

This is Griffin on the car ride there, he did excellent consider it was a 6 hr one way trip! About the last hour both ways he got grumpy, but we all were by then!

Griffin's bed time is about 7 PM, well ..he was more than ready for bed. Bless his heart he will sleep in his stroller with the loud music playing, as long as he has Melvin! He fell asleep about 7:30 and only woke up once! We left about midnight!

We were trying to get a picture with the sunset... It kind of worked out :)
This leads us to June 16....ANOTHER beautiful wedding, this time it was just in Altoona...no big deal as far as driving..right??....WRONG!! Let me just tell you about our day. I told Clinton we HAVE to leave the house NO later than 1:15 PM (believe it or not he is always the one late, I hate being late, it makes me all nervous and jittery!) anyway.. Clinton got Griffin and all of his stuff in the car by 1:14..I walked out the door at 1:18...so Clinton blames this whole story on me.

We drop of Griffin at my moms for the night. We were really excited to have a fun night with our friends, 1 couple that has a baby a few months younger than G, we realized that night that we hadn't hung out without a  baby and had an adult conversation in over a year.. wow have times changed :) . Anyway, we are backing out of my moms driveway waving bye to Griffin and all of the sudden..clunk.. Clinton kind of backs off into a little cluvert ditch thingy.. no big deal.. so we can continue on, I am typing the address to the Church in the GPS.. it tells us it is going to take 1hr and 10 mins..well...we don't have 1 hr and 10 mins..So Clinton picks up speed.. we come up on a car that is swerving ..on the phone..putting on make up.. blah blah.. so we pass her.. that is where we met a state trooper, we looked in the mirror and watched him pull over, we knew right then and there, there was NO way we were going to make the wedding now.. so we got the ticket, and off we go. We think okay we may still be able to make it because as soon as we hit 163 we can go 70....so we are making good time again, we get to the Runnells turn off and all of the sudden I hear CLUNK..CLUNK.CLUNK...CLINTON! WE HAVE A FREAKING FLAT TIRE! .. so we pull of.. I am in heels and a dress. Clinton is in dress pants, long sleeve shirt and a tie. W weren't even sure if the car had a spare tire in it or not. Thank God it did! So Clinton jacks up the car.. loosens the bolts.. i take the bolts off while he gets the car jacked all the way up.. and he changes the tire. This is where I swear God stopped time for us. We got the tire changed in FIVE minutes. Clinton now swears he should be on a pit crew in NASCAR. Anyway we have 15 mins until the wedding starts, now that we have a spare tire on we can't drive any faster than 50 mph. I tell Clinton the GPS says we will get there at 2:59...so we try it.. sure enough.. we get there just before the Groom starts seating the parents! That was a FUN day! We had a great time with our friends though! By God's Grace we are all safe, and I am way thankful Griffin wasn't with us that day.

Now Fathers Day..poor Clinton we didn't even get a minute to relax that day. Church started our morning off, and then Clinton had to do the service up at Pleasant Care. We then went out to Jim and Janets for Cake and Ice cream, and a new tire change. So he had to work while we were there too. Then we made our way to Colfax for our dear friend Lindsey's sister Visitation. She died of Cancer. Such a great woman and a sad story. Please keep the Jennings family in your prayers, as she is trying to plan her wedding and now the loss of her sister. We didn't get to visit long because our friends Angel and Brandon found out the sex of their baby earlier in the week and were having a gender reveal party. So we couldn't miss that! They are having a BOY!

This past weekend was the Coal Miners Celebration in Melcher, and we couldn't miss that :) Griffin and I headed there Friday night and Clinton met us after he got off of work. Saturday we went back for the parade. Clinton wen to the Indy race with some of his friends and Griffin and I had a nice relaxing evening at home.

Last week we also made the decision to pull Griffin off of the bottle and formula. We knew the only way to do  it was just to get rid of them both completely. I was REALLY scared...not scared for his health..but scared we wouldn't get any sleep...and we all 3 need our sleep. needless to say he did great, he loves the cows milk and is doing better with the sippy cup, he used to be really sloppy with it, but has gotten better over the past week. Mornings were harder than the night time.. I thought for sure night time bottle would be the harder one. The first morning when he woke up after sleeping 12 hours..yes he knows he needs his sleep too :) I put him straight in his high chair.. he didn't like that one bit. So I took him out and we played for about 10 mins and I put him back in and he was golden. So we now have a new routine at our house :) Breakfast with milk.. play time.  nap...play time..snack with water and juice.. he loves his "nack" time.. playtime...lunch with water and juice (same cup as snack time)... afternoon nap...play time.. "nack" time with water.. and then dinner with milk..play time..bath time.. and bed time! He goes down without a fight right at 7 and doesn't wake up until between 6:30 and 7:30..i'd say he is adjusting VERY well.

Sunday we had Fathers Day with my side, we went to New Sharon to my brothers where we spent the afternoon swimming. Griffin loves playing with all of his girl cousins. Here is a picture of him on the "Melvin" they got him for their pool.

This weekend I have my friend of 15 years Natasha's baby shower. She is also having a boy! I can't wait for him to get here in August!

I will try not to wait so long next time :)

Stay Cool :)

As I am finishing the blog I just got word that Clinton's cousin Julie had her baby this afternoon.. His name is Wesley Titus. Congrats to Zach and Julie. We can't wait to meet him!

It's been a while....

Where has time gone? I told ya'll I would not be very good at this..well its been a month or so since my last post. Here is an update on our life...

I have officially been a SAHM for 2 weeks now and it has been GREAT. I don't regret it one bit! My mom has been over almost everyday and we have been doing some DEEP cleaning. I am officially caught up on laundry, dishes and cleaning and it feels great.

We are adjusting well to living off of Clinton's income. We have a pretty strict budget we are living off of and it is working out well. One of our friends actually inspired me to be so strict with it. I would suggest if you want to get your money where it needs to be you follow her blog Love Your Finances

Planting is in full swing, so I'm a farming widow now. A lot of you know how this feels! All of the corn is in, now onto beans, and then mowing hay. So needless to say, it will be a while before Clinton is home at a decent time. We are adjusting well to his busy schedule, Griffin keeps me busy.

I have been walking with my mother-in-law 5 days a week at night time, we usually do more stopping and talking to people we see along our way then we do actually walking, but at least we are out exercising!

Clinton was able to get a day away from the Farm on Mothers Day so that was awesome. I was a little bummed Sunday morning when we woke up and he told me he had to go to the farm after Church. After Church he told me he wasn't sure if he would have to stay, needless to say he called about 10 minutes later and said he was headed home. So we spent the afternoon at my moms, then we went to Clinton's cousin Stephanie's grad party, and ended the evening at Clinton's grandmas for HOMEMADE ice cream :) YUMM!

Today my worked called me and asked if  I could come in a few days within the next few weeks to help them get caught up and stay caught up because one of the gals is going to have surgery. So my mom is going to watch Griffin tomorrow so I can go in and help them.

Griffin is spending the day with Clinton's mom, so I have been being lazy all day, i'm using today as my Mothers Day, since I didn't get time to relax yesterday I am today!

I will try to get better at updating at least once every few weeks, if I get really motivated I will update once a week. Although, we have something going on almost every weekend this summer. Also, I will get better at putting pictures up. I'm sure most of you have us on Facebook so you can see them there.

Get out and enjoy this awesome weather this week, here in Iowa you never know when it might be snowing ;)

God Bless,

Why Not...

Since everyone else is doing it, I thought I'd start. Not that I have tons of time to post, so I'm not sure how much of a "loyal blogger" I will be, but I will give it a shot! I will try to post some pictures in later blogs.

I will just start by filling in everyone on our BIG life changes that have happened over the past few months.

Jan 8. Clinton took on Pulpit Supply at our Church. This was just a temporary thing while our Church went through the Search and Call process. After prayer...decision making..fights..talks..(you know all the fun things married couples do when they are discussing changes), Clinton decided to apply for the Part-Time Pastor position at Fairview. So, he will be taking 1 class per semester for 3 years, yes that sounds like a lot, but its not bad!  He is still working his full-time job as a "farmer" and now will be a part-time Pastor. He is amazing, he has something going on every night of the week, between class, youth group, preparing for Sundays, home life and farm life!

Okay now I will skip a few months to where we are now, because from Jan 8 to March 31 was the big decision making process.

April 1. Clinton's first official day as Part-Time pastor at Fairview Christian Church..no pressure..busiest week ever..Holy Week.  Needless to say he is way stressed out this week. Thank goodness for all of the help he is getting from everyone.

After more prayer...decision making..fights...talks...financial planning...etc.. we decided its not worth it for me to work. I am pretty much working just to work. I have missed so many of Griffin's 1sts..and I'm not okay with that. Sooo.... April 27th is my last day as a Full-Time Employee, Wife, Mom and Clinton's Secretary.

May 1 I will be a WAHM-SAHM and I couldn't be more excited! Yes this last month at the office is going to DRAAAAG!! but it will be here before I know it. I am going to work one 8 hour day a week in the office when Janet has Griffin. I will work 3 hours (if that) a day from home. That will give me a lot more time with G and more time to get stuff done around the house, because if you walked into our house right now you would think we should be on the show Hoarders.. okay maybe its not that bad..but still!  I will also be able to be more dedicated to helping Clinton with all of his scheduling, having supper ready, instead of running to get a Casey's sub or pizza because I didn't have time to cook that night. Right now by the time I get off work, get G from daycare, get home and get him supper, bath, play.. its bedtime. No where in there do we have time to cook dinner for each other, clean up, talk about our day or anything.

Ok, I'm not sure if this is what a blog is for..but there ya go! For everyone that has been telling me to do it forever :)

Like I said I will post pictures some other time....I hope to update this weekly...okay none of that will probably happen until May..but we will see :)

Blessings :)
